Robert A. Racine

Robert A. Racine, 93, died Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Arthur and Irene (Desorcy) Racine, he lived in the city for most of his life.

In his free time, Robert enjoyed carpentry work and fixing clocks. He was also an avid fan of the Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins.

He is survived by his 3 sons, Ronald, Dennis and Darren Racine; 2 brothers, Rene and Deacon Leo Racine; 2 sisters, Helen Aubut and Pauline Wade; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

He was the father of the late Robert Jr., Lionel and Michael Racine; and brother of the late Paul, Fernand and Lionel Racine, and Marcelle Kirouac, Blanche Pedro and Lorraine Racine.

Visiting hours are Sunday, February 11, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Bedford.
