Theresa M. Alexander

Theresa Marie Alexander was born in her childhood home in Fairhaven, Massachusetts on August 14th 1939 - as the daughter of Joseph Tremblay and Germaine Tremblay. Her brothers being Russ Tremblay, Robert Tremblay, and Leo Tremblay. Her sisters being Jeannette Houbre, Marie Barboza, Germaine Vieira, and Doris Desrosiers.

She was a student of Sacred Hearts Academy when she met her husband, Ralph Alexander. They married in 1960. At age 22, she gave birth to their first child, Margaret Alexander, followed by Jeanne Alexander, Caroline Alexander, Michael Alexander, and Mark Alexander. They continue on her legacy with their grandchildren: Paul Alexander, Hanna Alexander, Madeleine Alexander, Serena Sabeti, Mia Alexander, Joelle Alexander, and Grace Alexander. 

Theresa lived most of her life in Acushnet, Massachusetts as a strong, beautiful, independent, loving, and generous mother. She began her career as a secretary and continued it as a production worker at the BorgWarner Company. She was a tough and hard-working woman who earned the respect of the men she worked with.

Throughout her life, she expressed a deep love and devotion to Jesus and The Blessed Mary through her Catholic faith. She prayed several times daily, attended Mass every Sunday, fasted every Friday, and taught all of her children to share in her love of God. Her favorite moments in life included laughter and joy shared by her family. She also possessed well-placed fondness for the Christmas season, snow, poinsettia plants, red roses, cardinal birds, mystery and comedy shows, mystery novels, classic music records, eating fish, and eating pizza. 

Visiting hours for Theresa are Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Her funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Parish, 125 Main St., Acushnet. Burial is private.
