Susan Johnson Koczera, age 69, of Mattapoisett, MA, passed away suddenly on June 24, 2019.  Susan was the devoted wife of Attorney Andrew S. Koczera of Mattapoisett, MA, and the loving mother of Kristin L. Koczera of Arlington, VA and the late Rachel J. Koczera of Mattapoisett, MA.
Born on November 18, 1949, New Bedford, MA, Susan graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1971, with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology.  Before making their home in Mattapoisett, she and her husband lived in New Bedford and Acushnet, MA, with their two young daughters.  As with raising her family, she loyally worked for over 20 years as a Paralegal at her husband’s law practice in downtown New Bedford, MA.
Above all else, Susan was fiercely devoted to her family and dearly loved her daughters.  It was with the greatest of joy, that she was able to enjoy the gratifying growth of both of her daughters’ careers in New York City and in Washington, D.C., and the success of her husband’s law practice, working alongside Lois A. Bramwell, her husband’s sister.
Susan was a very gifted singer and artist and spoke often and fondly of her childhood where she spent the summers sailing with her Father, at their cottage in Plymouth, MA.  She was incredibly kind hearted, and a good friend to many.
Susan was the daughter of the late Herbert A. and Dorothy I. Johnson, of New Bedford, MA.  She is survived by her two brothers, Richard A. Johnson of Candia, NH and Robert A. Johnson of Duxbury, MA, and the cousin to Howard P. Brown of Attleboro, MA.  Susan will also be sorely missed by many relatives including 5 Sister-in-Laws, 4 Brother-in-Laws, and the loving aunt to nieces Laura A. Hewitt of Tampa, FL, Cari Duke of San Diego, CA, Ava Koczera of New Bedford, MA, Marlana Johnson of Duxbury, MA and Kara Johnson of Candia, NH; as well as the loving aunt to 3 nephews Chris and Matt Duke of San Diego, CA, and Michael Hewitt of Tampa, FL.
     Immediate services are private.
