Chester (Chet) Lisak, 90, passed away of natural causes on February 11, 2012.  Born in Uxbridge, MA, he was the husband of Wanda (Dubiel) Lisak and son of the late Stanley and Helena (Szulik) Lisak.    
     He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a military policeman in the China/Burma/India theater of operations.  While in China, he was assigned to provide security for Lord Mountbatten, Gen. Claire Chennault and Col. Robert Scott of the Flying Tigers.  
     Upon leaving the service he became a firefighter for the city of New Bedford and received a commendation for his rescue of 3 people from a burning house on October 2, 1968.  He retired from the fire department in 1980 and subsequently pursued his lifelong fascination with classical aviation.  He held memberships in the Antique Airplane Assoc., Massachusetts Aviation Historical Society, Experimental Aircraft Assoc., National Waco Club and was a life member of the National Rifle Assoc..  
     He  had a passion for cooking and sampling different cuisines, especially enjoying many types of seafood dishes.  In his later years, he was content spending time at home with his wife and family.
     Surviving him is his wife, Wanda; his son, Thomas Lisak and his wife, Michelle of New Bedford, and his daughter, Helen Ducharme and her husband, Mark of Hollis, NH; his granddaughter, Amy Gaines and her husband, Daniel of Linthicum Heights, MD, his grandson, Timothy Lisak and his wife, Dorothy of Dartmouth, MA; his great-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Emelia Gaines; as well as 3 nephews and 2 nieces.
     He was predeceased by his brothers, Eugene and Theodore, and his sister, Frances.
     Private services were by  Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
