New Bedford - Chester A. "Charlie" Siwik, 91, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2012 at home.  He was the husband of the late Gladys (Zalenski) Siwik.  They were married for 60 years.
     Born in New Bedford, son of the late Alexander and Maryann (Gorczyca) Siwik, he was a lifelong resident of the city.  
     Mr. Siwik was employed as a supervisor in the machine shop, at the Acushnet Co., until his retirement.  One of his greatest pleasures was that of being an all around fix-it-man.
     After graduating from New Bedford Vocational High School as a machinist, he worked for the Dept. of Navy in Pearl Harbor for 2 years.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and served in Italy for 2 years.
     Survivors include 2 sons, Chester Siwik and his wife, Carol of Fairhaven and James Siwik and his wife, Linda of New Hampshire; 1 daughter, Katherine Costa and her husband, Gerald of Swansea; 3 brothers, Edward Siwik of California, Ronald Siwik of New Bedford, and Stephen Siwik of Acushnet;  5 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
     He was the brother of the late Eugene Siwik, Theodore Siwik and Stella Krisnosky, and grandfather of the late Alan Costa.
     Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, 9 - 11 A,M., followed by a funeral service at 11 A.M. at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.  Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
     In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Community Nurse and Hospice, 62 Center St., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
