New Bedford- Evelyn (Freitas) Perestrelo, 85, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019. Evelyn was a lifelong resident of New Bedford, only daughter of the late Hilda (Avila) Costa Terceira and Antone Freitas. She was also predeceased by her step-father Alfred Costa Terceira.
     Evelyn was known as “Grammy” to all who knew her. She was formerly employed in textile mills before retiring. She enjoyed spending nice days out on the porch, taking in all the neighborhood action. Grammy will be remembered for her exuberant laugh, fondness for off-color jokes, and the love she generously shared with all.
     Grammy is survived by her daughter, Beverly (Perestrelo) Jadlowic of New Bedford; her son-in-law, Russell Jadlowic of New Bedford; 3 grandchildren: Christian (Jadlowic) Petitpas of New Bedford, Jeremy Jadlowic of Acushnet, and Kimberly (Jadlowic) Pacheco of Manchester, NH; 8 great-grandsons; and her cat Oreo.
     Visiting hours are 9:30 – 11:30 A.M., Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.  A funeral mass is at 12:00 P.M., Tuesday, at Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church, New Bedford, followed by internment at St. John’s cemetery.  Family and friends are welcome to attend her services, followed by a buffet reception at Off Broadway Diner, 19 Taunton Green, Taunton, MA 02780.

I love and miss you Grammy...I thank God for you having been in my life when I was a child and the blessing of your presence afterwards when reunited in October of 2015. May God keep you in His eternal grace and glory.

Grammy it was a blessing to have crossed each other‘s path you’re amazing woman we love you so much Grammy especially I will miss you and my son sitting together on the porch and telling jokes in me trying to pond off Paul to you. You will always have a special place in my heart and soul and have the time of your life in heaven🥰 Till we see each other again. We love you Grammy.

My condolences to Beverly and her family. I'm going to miss seeing Evelyn's smiling face enjoying the fresh air on her porch and the chats we would have when I walked by with my dogs. She was a special lady who will definitely be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you!
