Fall River – Alexander “Al” Peter Deorsey, 65, of Fall River, died Sunday, July 11, 2021. He was the long-time fiancé of Sharon Raposa.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Eli and Josephine (Gricko) Deorsey, and lived in Fall River for 20 years. He was self-employed as an auto body and airbrush artist. He was also a commercial diver and scuba instructor.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Al enjoyed building and customizing cars, trucks and bikes. He was known as “Sailor Claus” of the annual toy drive for the VA and other year round charity events.
He is survived by his long-time fiancé, Sharon Raposa; 1 son, Jeremy Deorsey and wife, Kristy; 1 daughter, Victoria Caruso and husband, David; 2 step-sons, James Daponte, Jr. and wife, Tanya and Edward Raposa, Jr.; 2 step-daughters, Patty Beaupre and Maureen Beaupre; 2 brothers, Raymond Deorsey and Eli Deorsey; 1 sister, Mary Deorsey; and 5 grandchildren, Adam Caruso, Charlotte Caruso, Adalynn Deorsey, Samantha and Trevor Daponte.
His visitation is 2 – 5 P.M., Sunday, July 18, 2021 at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Burial with military honors will be Monday, July 19 at 10 A.M. from the funeral home with a service at 12:45 in Bourne National Cemetery.
