New Bedford - Amelia R. Melancon, 23, of New Bedford, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, October 30, 2015. She was the daughter of Joshua and Karrin Barkemeyer.
Born in New Bedford, she traveled throughout the country before returning to this city in 2009. She was a homemaker.
Amelia was a member of the Oregon Children's Choir and was part of the Dartmouth Youth Soccer Organization. She enjoyed photography and baking. She was passionate about music and was a very talented vocalist. She especially loved spending time with her family and children.
Survivors include her mother and father; 2 daughters, Essence and Ava Grace; 4 sisters, Martina Sherman of Palm Springs, CA, Ana Styne of Davis, CA, Hannah Barkemeyer of Salem, Oregon, and Berlyn Barkemeyer of Middleboro; 2 brothers, David Barkemeyer and Aiden Franklin, both of New Bedford; 2 uncles, Martin Ferrero of Weirnersville, PA and Jesse Torrez of Westport, MA; and several other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Her visiting hours are 3 - 5 P.M., Sunday, November 15, 2015 with a memorial service at 4 P.M. at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
