Boston – Anna Regula, 89, died Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Boston Medical Center after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Boleslaus Regula.
Born in Stonington, CT, daughter of the late Sam and Nancy (Blanda) Shaheen, Anna lived in New Bedford for most of her life. She was a parishioner of the former Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church where she was involved in many parish activities, and a current member of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
She was a stitcher at various clothing factories for many years. She later worked at the North Dartmouth K-Mart until its closure, retiring from the Fairhaven K-Mart.
Anna was a talented seamstress, bringing so much joy to family and friends with her creations and alterations. She also enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, and spoiling her cats Max and April. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Anna is survived by her son, Robert Regula; her daughters, Christine Regula and Patricia Raphael and her fiancé, William Michaud; her brother, Sam Shaheen and his wife K and brother-in-law Stephen Louro; 2 grandchildren; Jason Raphael and Brandy Lopes; her great-granddaughter Deanna Lopes, many nieces and nephews and lifelong best friend Louise Labonte.
She was the mother of the late Paul Regula; and the sister of the late Marie Louro and Nancy Brightman.
Visting hours are Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Anna’s funeral Mass will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, New Bedford. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
