New Bedford - Anna J. Sowa, 84, died peacefully, Saturday, November 17, 2018, at home. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Katherine (Cyrkiel) Sowa.
Born in New Bedford, she lived here all her life. She was employed as a teacher in the New Bedford school system for 36 years until her retirement.
An avid golfer, Anna often played on the Reservation Golf Course as well as Heritage Hill Golf Course. She loved cats and was a rescuer for Habitat for Cats.
She enjoyed following the Patriots and the Red Sox too.
Anna leaves behind some very dear friends, life long friendships that spanned over 70 years, dating back to junior high school. The highlights of Anna's days, aside from her 2 cats, were her daily evening phone calls with Joan to answer Jeopardy's "big question" together.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews; and her very dear friends, Jeanne and Ed Motyl, Joan Park and Mary Walsh.
She was the sister of the late Mary Botelho, Gladys Sowa, Josephine Worden, Helen Lombardi and Thaddeus Sowa.
Her funeral services are private.
