Bento G. Carreiras

New Bedford - Bento G. Carreiras, 68, died Monday, February 22, 2016, at St. Luke's      Hospital.  He was the husband of the late Julie (Breau) Carreiras.
     Born in Portugal, a son of the late Antonio and Rosa (Moura) Carreiras, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.  He was employed as a foreman in construction until his retirement.
     In his youth, Mr. Carreiras loved to box and race cars.  He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
     Survivors include his daughter, Connie Carreiras of New Bedford; 2 brothers, Tony Carreiras of Dartmouth and John Carreiras of NY; 4 sisters, Connie, Neves, MaryAnn and Liza; 2 grandchildren, Kehlee and Feleisha; and several nieces and nephews.
     Private services were with Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
