Bethany M. Thomas

Bethany M. Thomas, 33, died Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital.  She was the daughter of Joseph Thomas and Linda (Reynolds) Skapik.
     She was born in New Bedford and grew up in Acushnet where she lived for most of her life.  She was a homemaker.  She attended Our Lady of Purgatory Church.
     Bethany graduated from Bridgewater State College, receiving her bachelor’s degree in social work.
     She enjoyed walking, family vacations to the mountains of New Hampshire, and in her youth, fishing and crabbing.  Bethany was very talented in writing poems.  She was always willing to help anyone in need.
     Survivors include her parents; her stepfather, Michael Skapik; a son, William Hughes and his father, Damien Hughes; 1 sister, Catrina Skapik; 1 brother, Devin Skapik; 2 aunts, Carol Thomas (also her godmother) and Cynthia Reynolds; 2 uncles, Peter Thomas and David Reynolds; and many cousins and friends.
     Private arrangements are with Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
