Bruce Rish Obituary

Fairhaven - Bruce J. Rish, 65, of Fairhaven, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, January 4, 2016.  Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Frank and Doris (Metivier) Rish.
     Bruce was an active carpenter on Cape Cod and most recently employed by Sean Watts Custom Homes in Falmouth for 10 years.  He was well known for the quality of his workmanship.
     In his spare time, he loved anything outdoors, such as gardening, canoeing and took pride in his yard and many flower beds.  He also enjoyed cooking.  Bruce was always the life of any party, and was known for his sense of humor and for climbing trees by his feet.
     He leaves behind his longtime companion, Carolyn J. Lavoie of Fairhaven; her sons, Roger Lavoie and Raymond Lavoie, both of New Hampshire and her 2 daughters, Robbin Lavoie and Raeanne Lavoie, both of Fairhaven; 16 grandchildren, 16 greatgrandchildren, all who referred to him as "Popeye"; 2 brothers, Donald Rish of Texas and Patrick Rish of New Bedford; 3 sisters, Marcia Munchkin of Washington, Nancy Ingham of New Bedford, and Joyce Crane of Maine; and several nieces and nephews.
     He was the brother of the late Barbara Eakin.
     His funeral service is private.  A memorial service will be held in the spring.
