Camille Philip Boyer passed away peacefully on January 16, 2024, in Connecticut at the age of 95.
Cam was born and raised in New Bedford. In his youth, he played baseball (shortstop) for St. Joseph's in the CYO league. Cam was an Army veteran (corporal) serving during the Korean War.
He resided in Acushnet for over 30 years and was an active community member serving on the Acushnet Housing Authority and Acushnet Youth Sports Boards. He coached Acushnet youth baseball for many years.
Cam retired to Florida after 30 years working for the Acushnet Company as a master electrician. Cam spent his later years living in Connecticut. In his late 80’s, he competed with the U.S. Veterans’ Rowing & Kayaking team. Additionally, he volunteered at the CT Shoreline Food Pantry. He loved cheering for his beloved Red Sox, and Patriots. Cam was a devout Catholic and devoted to his family and country. He will be missed.
He was predeceased by his wife of over 60 years, Yvette Doris Boyer (née Loranger), and his parents Laurent and Alice Boyer (née Desorcy). Camille was one of 10 children and the last of his siblings to survive. He was predeceased by Flora Duff (Ernest), Paul Boyer, Helen Dunn (Maurice), Edgar Boyer (Muriel), Roger Boyer (Patricia), Pearl Fernandes (John), Raymond Boyer (Cynthia), Shirley Sidel Babcock (Wayne Sidel and Harold Babcock), and Evelyn Boyer.
He is survived by his children, Jeanne Boyer Roy (Charles) and Marc Boyer (Robin), his grandchildren, Alex Roy (Ashley), Nathan McKinlay-Roy (Morgan), Alison Boyer, and Kailey Blalock (Brandon), his great-granddaughter Annalise Roy, and many loving nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Eastern Blind Rehabilitation Service (EBRS) Center at the VA in West Haven, CT.
Arrangements are being made by the Machnowski Funeral Home 472 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford. Visiting hours are Friday, January 26 at 9:00 AM followed by a Mass of at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
