Charles Buckley Obituary

New Bedford – Charles H. Buckley, 89, died Monday, August 3, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital.  He was the husband of Lorraine (Poitras) Buckley.
     Born in Fall River, MA, the son of the late Charles H. and Regina (Pinault) Buckley, he was a lifelong New Bedford resident.  He was employed as a tool and die maker for the Continental Screw Co. until his retirement, and later retired from the state of MA for the DPW.
     Charles was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.  
     He was a member of the DAV (Disabled American Veterans), a member of the YMCA of New Bedford, and troop master of the boy scouts, Troop 16.  He enjoyed woodworking, square dancing and painting.
     Survivors include his wife, Lorraine; 1 son, Charles L. Buckley of New Bedford; 1 daughter, Jeanne Siwik of Acushnet; 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
     He was the brother of the late Antoinette Boothby and Margaret Newbury.
     Visiting hours are 8:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. Friday, August 7, 2020, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11 A.M., in St. Mary’s Church, 783 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth.  Burial with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery #1.
     In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
