Dolores Telo

Beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Dolores Telo passed away peacefully on January 27, 2022, at the age of 97. Dolores was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts on June 30, 1924. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years John C. Telo in 2003. They made their life in New Bedford where they raised their family. Dolores leaves behind all five of her loving children, John J. Telo and wife, Leslie of Big Canoe, GA; Elaine Oliver and husband, Lawrence of Wellington, FL; Linda Hirschfeld and husband, Paul of Blaine, TN; Stephen Telo and wife, Jean of Ruskin, FL; and Robert Telo and wife, Elizabeth of Gainesville, GA, along with her ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

The eldest of three children, Dolores was preceded in death by her brother, John Jardim of Fairhaven, MA, and is survived by her youngest brother, Joseph Jardim of Bradenton, FL.

Dolores was a woman of great faith and a communicant of both Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church and Our Lady of Fatima Church for many years.

She answered to many names; D, Ma and Grandma were her favorite. Dolores was a homemaker who made everyone feel at home. She loved to feed people, made the best chicken soup and never skipped dessert, even if it was just a sliver. She was a fierce card player and had an infectious laugh.

Dolores loved to work with her hands. She was an expert seamstress and an avid needle pointer and knitter. She loved to share her enthusiasm for all of her crafts and would happily teach anyone willing to learn. Although she was small in stature, her hugs were legendary and will be missed by all those who loved her.

A private service to celebrate Dolores’ life will be held at Machnowski Funeral Home, New Bedford, MA. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery.
