Dominik Ficek

Fall River - Dominik Ficek, 33, died Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at home, unexpectedly.  He was the son of Grazyna (Jasicka) Barcz and the late Henryk Ficek.
     Born in Koszalin, Poland, he came to the U.S. from Poland as a student in 2001 to study accounting in New Jersey.  In 2004 he moved to Fall River and was employed as a fisherman for various scalloping vessels out of New Bedford.  Dominik enjoyed music, especially playing the clarinet.  He also loved watching movies and traveling.
     Survivors include his mother, Grazyna Barcz and her husband, Peter of Acushnet; his grandmother, Jadwiga Jasicka; 1 brother, Radoslaw Ficek; 3 aunts, Grazyna Jasicka, who is also his godmother, Beata Pronobis, and Zdzislawa Antosz; 2 uncles, Slawomir Jasicki and Robert Pronobis; his godfather, Jozef Antosz; and several nieces and nephews, all of Poland.
     His Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 A.M., Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 235 North Front Street, New Bedford.  His cremated remains will be taken aboard the fishing vessel, Atlantic and buried at sea.
     In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Dominik's memory be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church or to Catholic charities.
