Doris R. (Lapre) Jablonski

Boston – Doris R. Jablonski, 96, of New Bedford, entered peacefully into eternal life, with her daughter by her side, on March 18, 2019, at Massachusetts General Hospital after a very brief illness.  She was the beloved wife of 52 years of the late Edward J. Jablonski, and daughter of the late Wilfred and Florida (Benjamin) Lapre.
     Born in Fall River, Doris moved to New Bedford after her marriage and was a lifelong resident of the city.  She loved cooking and baking and excelled at both.  In her younger years, Doris enjoyed traveling, and had cherished memories of trips and cruises taken with her husband and friends.  She took great pleasure in all that was beautiful, from clothes and music to the blooming plants and flowers which filled her home.  Doris especially enjoyed visits from Eddie, her favorite little Yorkie.
     Doris attended the Social Day Program at the Fairhaven Council on Aging for many years.  She looked forward to being with her friends there and especially to Friday bingo.  Her family would like to thank the staff for all their kindness, and also to thank Mary Ann, Patricia, Linda, and Sandy who cared for Doris with such love in her home.
     Doris was a woman of strong faith and a devoted communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.  Her family meant everything to her.  She is survived by her three children, Sister Patricia Edward Jablonski, F.S.P. of Boston, John E. Jablonski and his wife, Mary Ann of Lakeville, Robert J. Jablonski of Florida, her sister, Yvette Abrams of Swansea, and several nieces and nephews.  Doris was the sister of the late Alice Lapre, Irene Lapre, and Lillian Vannasse.
     In lieu of flowers, her family kindly requests that Masses be offered for Doris.  Visitation will be Friday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.  Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, with interment following at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
