New Bedford - Edward A. Koczera, 86, of New Bedford, died Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Care One at New Bedford.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Stanley and Louise (Ziembicka) Koczera, he lived here all his life. He was employed as a strapper at Alden Corrugated for 33 years until his retirement. He was a member of the former St. Casimir Church.
Mr. Koczera was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean War, having served from 1951 - 1953 and attaining the rank of corporal.
His family includes his sister, Stella Czarnota and late husband, Walter Czarnota of New Jersey, his brother, Freddie Koczera and wife, Linda of Florida, his sister, the late Jeannette Bobrowiecki and late husband, Chester Bobrowiecki; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours are 10 to 11 A.M., Thursday, November 10, 2016 with a service at 11 A.M. at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Burial with military honors will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Bedford.
