Eugene W. Labonte

Fairhaven – Eugene W. Labonte, 92, of Fairhaven, died Monday, September 9, 2019 at home.  He was the husband of Louise (Sullivan) Labonte.
     Born in New Bedford, son of the late Eli and Annie (Landry) Labonte, he lived in Fairhaven for 62 years.  He was employed as a manager of maintenance at Acushnet Co. until his retirement.  
     Mr. Labonte was a WWII veteran, having served as sergeant in the Army Air Corps.
     He greatly enjoyed watching football, having played and coached the sport.  He had a knack for building and fixing things, and solving problems.  He especially loved his family and spending time with them.
      Survivors include his wife Louise; 2 sons, Steven Labonte and Gary Labonte; 3 daughters, Susan Briggs, Sharon Hinds, and Gail Gadbois; and 3 grandchildren, Nicholas Briggs, Shauna Briggs, and Andrew Gadbois.
     Visitation is 10:00 – 11:30 A.M. Friday, September 13, 2019 with a service 11:30 A.M., at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.  Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.  For condolences, visit www.machnowskifuneral.com.
