Evelyn Perestrelo Obituary
New Bedford- Evelyn (Freitas) Perestrelo, 85, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019. Evelyn was a lifelong resident of New Bedford, only daughter of the late Hilda (Avila) Costa Terceira and Antone Freitas. She was also predeceased by her step-father Alfred Costa Terceira.
Evelyn was known as “Grammy” to all who knew her. She was formerly employed in textile mills before retiring. She enjoyed spending nice days out on the porch, taking in all the neighborhood action. Grammy will be remembered for her exuberant laugh, fondness for off-color jokes, and the love she generously shared with all.
Grammy is survived by her daughter, Beverly (Perestrelo) Jadlowic of New Bedford; her son-in-law, Russell Jadlowic of New Bedford; 3 grandchildren: Christian (Jadlowic) Petitpas of New Bedford, Jeremy Jadlowic of Acushnet, and Kimberly (Jadlowic) Pacheco of Manchester, NH; 8 great-grandsons; and her cat Oreo.
Visiting hours are 9:30 – 11:30 A.M., Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. A funeral mass is at 12:00 P.M., Tuesday, at Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church, New Bedford, followed by internment at St. John’s cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to attend her services, followed by a buffet reception at Off Broadway Diner, 19 Taunton Green, Taunton, MA 02780.
