Frances Monteiro

Frances Monteiro, 77, died Friday, August 30, 2024 at Sacred Heart Home in New Bedford after a brief illness.

Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Stanley and Stasia (Fiejdasz) Paleczka, she lived in the city her entire life.

In her free time, Frances enjoyed cooking, painting, traveling, and music. She especially loved spending time with her family. 

Frances is survived by her son, Steven Monteiro and his wife, Celly of Acushnet; her two daughters, Susan Monteiro Dimond and her husband, Daniel of New Bedford, and Sandra Monteiro and her husband, Timothy of New Bedford; her brother, Vincent Paleczka and his wife, Kathy; her sister, Alice Gadomski and her husband, Charlie; 7 grandchildren, Rebecca, Suzy, Benjamin, Sara, Sierra, Alice, and Timothy; and 4 great-grandchildren, Olivia, Emma, Ava, and Jakaiy.

Visiting hours are Wednesday, September 4, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a service at 5:30 p.m. at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Burial is private.
