George W. Souza

Fall River – George W. Souza, 55 of New Bedford, passed away in his mother’s arms, holding his sister’s hand, and surrounded by family and loved ones, Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Fall River Healthcare after a long illness.  He was the son of Alga M. (Ponte) Mello and the late Frank Souza.
     Born in New Bedford, he lived in the city all his life.  He was employed as a custodian for a nursing home until his illness.
     George greatly enjoyed singing and playing drums, including bongo drums.  He loved animals, such as birds and dogs.  He especially took pleasure in being with people.
     Survivors include his mother, Alga and stepfather, Daniel Mello; 2 brothers, James Souza and Robert Souza; and 2 sisters, Karleen Beaulieu and Debra Pisz.
