Central Falls, RI - Hazel (Correia) Konorosky, 88, died Monday, December 26, 2016 at Mansion Nursing Home.
Born and educated in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (Couto) Correia. She graduated from New Bedford High School. She moved to Martinsville, VA in 1963 where she lived for 42 years, before settling in Central Falls a few years ago.
Hazel was a certified nursing assistant for 10 years. She was an active parishioner at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and for 24 years, she volunteered in the "Open Arms Program" at the First United Methodist Church in Martinsville. Hazel was a greeter at Laurel Park School for 2 1/2 years. She lived at Mansion Nursing Home, in Central Falls, RI for 3 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Marie Konorosky of Newport, RI; 1 sister, Patricia Chopoorian and her husband, Jack of Portsmouth, RI.
She was the sister of the late Mary Fortuna, Alice Psota, Josephine Siwik, Joseph Correia, and Manuel Correia.
Her visitation will be Saturday, December 31, 2016, from 8 to 9:30 A.M. at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 A.M. in Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
