Helen Palys Obituary

New Bedford - Helen A. (Lesniak) Palys, 95, entered her eternal joy, Wednesday, November 4, 2015.  She was the wife of the late Walter M. Palys, with whom she shared over fifty years of marriage.
     Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Izdebski) Lesniak.  She enjoyed many successful and happy years working in the Assessor's Office at City Hall of New Bedford.
     Helen was a committed member of the Polish Women's Business and Professional Club from its inception.  She was also involved in many other Polish and Senior Groups with her husband.  She was a parishioner of St. Casimir's Church and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in New Bedford.
     Helen was a loving and devoted mother to her 2 daughters, Gail A. Ponichtera and husband, Allen and Patricia A. Palys.  She was a proud grandmother of granddaughter, Kimberly A. Ponichtera who spent many hours giving her loving care, and grandson, Allen M. Ponichtera and his wife, Amanda.  She also leaves 2 great-grandsons, Allen J. Ponichtera and Collin M. Ponichtera who brought her so much joy, and her sister-in-law, Helena Bobrowiecki, as well as several nieces and nephews.
     She was predeceased by a brother, Stanislaw Lesniak.
     Visiting hours are 9 to 10:30 A.M., Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, New Bedford.
