Ilda I. Marques

Ilda I. Marques, 86, died Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Jose Marques.

Born in Chaves, Portugal, daughter of the late Joao and Helena (Trindade) Igrejas, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.

Ilda enjoyed cooking, knitting, going to restaurants, and she was especially fond of dogs. Ilda also loved taking care of children and spending time with her family.

Ilda is survived by her son, Eduardo Igrejas; her brother, Fransico Igrejas; her sister, Eleza Igrejas; two grandchildren, Diane Jean and Steve Igrejas; and three great-grandchildren, Kayla Amaral, Olivia Jean, and Declan Igrejas.

Ilda was predeceased by her 15 brothers and sisters.

Visiting hours are Sunday, April 7, 2024 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford.
