Jacqueline LaVault

Fall River – Jacqueline "Jackie" LaVault, 83, died Thursday, May 11, 2023 after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Col. Paul A. LaVault.

Born in Saurat, Ariege, France, daughter of the late Jean Charles and Victoire (Jauze) Orth, Jackie lived in New Bedford for most of her life. She was a hostess at the former Thad’s Steakhouse for many years.

Jackie will always be remembered as a loving, generous and compassionate woman who was purely devoted to her family. She was very charismatic, and always carried herself with class and strength. She loved meeting new people, and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Jackie also had a wonderful sense of humor, and loved to make others laugh. She had a very adventurous spirit, and in her free time she enjoyed going to casinos, knitting, crocheting, cooking, and metal detecting at beaches. She especially appreciated spending time with her grandson. She loved deeply, and will be cherished forever by her friends and family.

Jackie is survived by her daughter, Veronique Luzza and her husband, Anthony; and her grandson, Marco Luzza.

Her visiting hours will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 A.M. in St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Bedford.
