James W. Lake

New Bedford - James W. Lake, 53 of New Bedford, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015, unexpectedly from a heart attack.

     Born in New Bedford, the son of Pearl (Hodges) Lake and the late William R. Lake, Sr., he was raised in Wareham and lived most of his life in New Bedford.

     Mr. Lake was a "Jack of Many Trades" including landscaping and construction work.  He enjoyed bowling, the driving range, playing pool and darts, going to sporting events with his children, and especially helping others.

     Survivors include his mother, Pearl; 4 children, Kevin Texiera, Kristy Lake, Kara Lake, and James W. Lake II; 3 stepchildren, Jessica Sandstrum, Shay Bodine and Zachary Bodine; 9 grandchildren, Cheyenne Lake, Anthony Nardone, Alexia Cardoza, Izabella Garcia, Lily Garcia, Audrey Lake-Higgins, Kiyarah Ellis, Alana Noble and Emesen Noble; his former wife, Tracy Lake;  long-term girlfriend, Kathy Crossman; 3 brothers, William Lake, Jr. of Florida, Duane Lake of Florida, and Craig Lake of California; 2 sisters, Karen Lake of Vermont and Theresa Maciel of New Bedford; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

     Visitation is 1 - 4 P.M., Saturday, February 7, 2015, with a memorial service at 3:30 P.M., at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
