James Leandre

Boston – James Leandre, 47, of Fairhaven, died Monday, May 17, 2021 at Tufts Medical Center.  He was the husband of Ruth (Butts) Vieira Leandre.

     Born in New Bedford, a son of the late James J. Leandre and Rosemary (Reed) Samson, he was a resident of Fairhaven.  He was employed as a factory worker in textiles and later in telemarketing.

     Jimmy was a member of the Moose Lodge.  He enjoyed Karaoke, the movies and playing pool, but most of all he loved his family.

     He is survived by his wife, Ruth; 2 sons, James Leandre and Joshua Vieira; 2 daughters, Catherine Vieira and Rebecca Vieira; 7 brothers, Ken, Steven, Brian, John, Eric, Kevin and Nathan; 4 sisters, Rosemary, Deborah, Paula and Michelle; 2 godchildren, Joseph Leandre and Gabriel Roderick; and several grandchildren.

     He was the brother of the late Donna Ann Leandre.

     Visitation is 9 – 11 A.M., Monday, May 24, 2021 with a service at 11 A.M. at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.  Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery, New Bedford.
