John August

New Bedford - John August, 67, died Saturday, October 1, 2022 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Rose M. (Texeira) August; they were married 39 years.

Born in New Bedford, son of the late Frank and Mary M. (Souza) August, he lived most of his life in the city. He was employed as a bus driver for Tremblay Bus Company, until his retirement. He was a member of the Full Gospel Christian Fellowship. 

Mr. August was a prison minister for 12 years, as well as minister at various nursing homes. He loved playing guitar. 

Survivors include his wife, Rose; 2 sons, Ralph Gilmour, Jr. and Maxwell August; 4 daughters, Mary Rose August, Candi Durant, Sarah August and Olivia August; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

Visiting hours are Thursday, October 6, 2022 from 6 to 8p.m., with a service at 7:30p.m. at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
