Joseph Lech, Jr. Obituary

East Freetown – Joseph W. Lech, Jr., 83 died Saturday, June 20, 2020 at home surrounded by his family.  He was the husband of the late Jeannine H. (LeBlanc) Lech.
     Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Joseph W. Lech, Sr. and Helen (Prachniak) Lech, he lived in East Freetown for several years.
     Joe, Jr., was the proprietor of the Lech Garage and Auto Body Shop for more than 40 years.  A pilot for 45 years, he served as a Commissioner at New Bedford Airport.  He was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
     Joe Jr., shared a love of flying with his wife, Jeannine as well as traveling in their motorhome.  He was known for his boat “Suddenly”which he built and they would enjoy the summers sailing on Long Pond in Lakeville.
     Mr. Lech was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
     Survivors include  2 daughters, Christine Lech-Goulart and husband, Michael, Jr. of Plymouth, and Donna M. Lech-Rogge and husband, Michael of Easton; 1 son, Joseph W. Lech, III and wife, Rachel of East Freetown; and 2 grandchildren, Myles Goulart and Joseph “Joey” W. Lech IV.
     He was the brother of the late Robert Lech.
