Joseph E. Soares

Plymouth – Joseph E Soares, 75, died Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Plymouth Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.  He was the son of the late Joseph P., Jr. and Maria Gloria (Pimentel) Soares.
     Born and raised in New Bedford, he lived here all his life.  He was a driving ed. teacher, both on the road and in the classroom.  He had also been employed as a bus driver for Boston Coach in the seaport district of Boston.
     Mr. Soares received his Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education at Westfield University.  He was a member of the Men’s Group of St. Julie Biliart Church, and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.  He was a member of Courage International, also known as Courage Apostolate.
     He is survived by his aunt, Izaura Pimentel of Dartmouth, his uncle, Antone Oliveira of New Bedford, and his aunt, Mary Lou Soares of New Bedford; 2 godsons, Albert Augusto Barbosa of New Bedford and Lionel Paul Souza of West Yarmouth; and several cousins.
     Burial in St. John’s Cemetery is private.  His Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date.
