Juanita Lopez Obituary
New Bedford – Juanita Lopez, 87, of New Bedford, died Monday, January 25, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the wife of Rafael Montanez.
Born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Eleuterio Talavera and Natalia Galarza. She was a homemaker and lived in New Bedford for many years.
Juanita greatly enjoyed sewing, cooking, praying, and especially her family.
She is survived by her husband, Rafael; 1 son, Nathan Talavera; 1 daughter, Carmen Talavera Martinez; 2 brothers, David and Manuel; 4 sisters, Dominga, Laisabel, Carmen and Santa; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Juan and Domingo and 1 sister, Lydia.
Visitation is Monday, February 1, 2021, from 9 A.M. to 10:30 A.M., with a service at 10:30 A.M., at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Please wear masks and practice social distancing. For condolences, visit www.machnowskifuneral.com.
