Lorraine R. Buckley

Lorraine R. Buckley, 92, died Monday, September 11, 2023 at Alden Court Nursing Care in Fairhaven after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Charles H. Buckley.

Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Louis and Alphonsine (Roy) Poitras, she lived in the city for most of her life. Lorraine worked at the Gomes School for the New Bedford School Department for many years until her retirement. She was also a member of the Romeo and Juliet Square Dance Club and volunteered at the Dartmouth Council on Aging.

In her free time, Lorraine enjoyed crafts and knitting. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Lorraine is survived by her son, Charles L. Buckley of New Bedford; her daughter, Jeanne Siwik and her husband, Garry of Acushnet; 2 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

She was the sister of the late Gerard Poitras.

Visiting hours are Friday, September 15, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, with a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery #1, New Bedford.
