Luis E. Colon Vega

Luis E. Colon Vega, 83, died on May 16, 2025 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, son of the late Dolores Colon and Jazinta Vega, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.

Luis was a devout Christian and a very social and happy person. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and dancing. 

He is survived by his daughter, Iris Colon Torres; 11 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. 

He was the father of the late Domingo Colon Torres and Carman Colon Torres.

Visiting hours will be Friday, May 23, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, with a service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery.
