Luis R. Maldonado-Rivera

Luis R. Maldonado-Rivera, 69, died Thursday, April 4, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness. He was the former husband of Malta Acevedo..

Born in Moca, Puerto Rico, son of the late Catalino and Julia (Viera) Maldonado-Rivera, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.

Luis worked as an automotive mechanic and enjoyed fixing cars. He was especially fond of spending time with his family.

He is survived by his three daughters, Milta Maldonado, Leila Lopez, and Marilyn Maldonado; eight brothers and sisters, Luis, Antonio, Victor, Aida, Hilda, Jose, Noelia, and Ruben; and five grandchildren.

Visiting hours are Monday, April 8, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, with a service at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. His funeral is Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial at 11:30 a.m. in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford.
