New Bedford – Lydia M. Melendez Viera, 70, died Thursday, August 20, 2020 at home.
Born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Juan Melendez and Carmen Viera, she lived in New Bedford for many years. She was a homemaker.
Lydia was a very religious person who always tried to help people in need. She loved her grandchildren and was fond of animals, especially cats and dogs.
She is survived by 1 son, Jose Louis Bonilla; 2 daughters, Rosa Liz Gonzalez and Zasha I. Gonzalez; 4 brothers, 7 sisters; and 7 grandchildren.
