Maria Acosta, 78, died Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Brandon Woods Nursing Home in New Bedford after a long illness.
Born in Humacao, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Jose Acosta Sr. and Martina (Perez) Acosta. She lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
In her free time, Maria enjoyed being outdoors, cooking, taking care of her family, and spending time with her great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She is survived by her 5 sons, Eli and Felix Cuadrado, Danniel Ferrer, and Paquito and Raymond Velasquez; 3 daughters, Lucy Garcia, and Miriam and Evelyn Cuadrado; her brother, Jose Acosta; and 3 sisters, Evelyn Luciano, Nilda Rivera, and Carmen Velasquez; and many great and great-great grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late David and Elenita Campos, and Debra Cuadrado; and sister of the late David and Freddy Acosta.
Visiting hours are Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery, New Bedford.
