Marion Hancock Obituary

New Bedford – Marion (Lawrence) Hancock, 75, of Dartmouth, died Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Vibra Hospital of New Bedford.  She was the wife of the late Paul D. Hancock.
     Born in Acushnet, daughter of the late Frank, Jr. and Annie (Bettencourt) Lawrence, she lived in Dartmouth for many years.
     Marion was employed as a certified nursing assistant at Our Lady’s Haven for 32 years, until retiring in 2017.  She worked alongside her best friend, Margie Avila for many years.
     She enjoyed word search puzzles, reading Christmas related novels, and watching Christmas movies.  Her favorite seasons were fall and winter.  She also loved visiting New Hampshire.
     Marion dearly loved her two Chihuahuas, her “Little Girl”, Roxie and Peanut.
     Survivors include 1 daughter, Debra Fontaine and husband, Alan of New Bedford, MA; 4 sons, Douglas Desmarais and wife, Janet of Ft. Pierce, Fl, Daniel Desmarais of New Bedford, MA, David Desmarais and wife, Leza of Acushnet, MA, and Robert Queripel, Jr. and wife, Lucy of Zephyrhills, Fl; 3 sisters, Pauline Tiexeira of Acushnet, MA, Evelyn Nunes of New Bedford, MA and Mildred Connick of Fairhaven, MA; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
     She was the sister of the late Raymond Perry of CT.
     Visiting hours are 4 – 7 P.M., Friday, October 25, 2019, with a service at 6:30 P.M. at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.  Burial is private.  For condolences, visit www.machnowskifuneral.com.
     Marion loved receiving cards. Since the funeral service falls on her birthday, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, birthday cards for Marion may be brought to the funeral home, or mailed to : Aztec Office, c/o Debra Fontaine, 984 Charles St., North Providence, RI 02904.
