Mark Rogers, Sr. Obituary

Acushnet - Mark J. Rogers, Sr., 61, died Thursday, July 3, 2014, at home.  He was the husband of Susan G. (Babineau) Rogers.
     Born in Acushnet, a son of the late Joseph and Kazmira (Markowski) Rogers, he lived here all his life.  He was employed as a machinist at Titleist.
     Mark taught in machine shop at Old Colony High School, as well as being a substitute teacher at New Bedford Voke.  He was also an on-call firefighter for the town of Acushnet.  He was a member of the Downshifters Car Club, and enjoyed working on antique cars.  But most of all, he was a devoted family man.
     Survivors include his wife, Susan; 1 son, Mark J. Rogers, Jr. and his wife, McKenna of New Bedford; 1 daughter, Melissa A. Rogers of Acushnet; 1 brother, Kenneth Rogers of Fairhaven; 2 sisters, Debbie Viveiros and Jo-Ann Bertrand, both of New Bedford; 2 grandchildren, Mesha and Nevaeh Rogers; and several nieces and nephews.
     Everyone is invited to his funeral Mass at 10 A.M., Wednesday, in St. Francis Xavier Church, 125 Main St., Acushnet.  Burial will follow in the Acushnet Cemetery.  Visiting hours are 5 - 8 P.M., Tuesday, at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.  For condolences, please visit www.machnowskifuneral.com.
