Matthew J. Niziolek

Marion - Matthew J. Niziolek, 80, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the Sippican Healthcare Center.  He was the husband of the late Joan F. (Anderton) Niziolek.
     Born in Acushnet, son of the late Matthew L. and Blanche (Wilusz) Niziolek, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
     Mr. Niziolek was a graduate of New Bedford High School and UMass, Dartmouth.  He was employed as an industrial engineer at Davol, Inc. before his retirement.  He was a Patriots fan and loved fishing, cars and making home improvements.
     He was a U.S. Army veteran.
     Survivors include his daughter, Karen Ferguson and husband, Jesse of Marion; and 3 granchildren, Nathan Niziolek, Ella Ferguson and Phoebe Ferguson.  
     He was the father of the late David Niziolek.
     Visiting hours are 4 - 7 P.M., Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.  His funeral will be at 8:30 A.M., Friday from the funeral home, followed by a Mass at 9:30 A.M. in St. Mary's Church, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
     In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
