Melissa Lee Pina

Melissa Lee Pina, 54, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. She was the daughter of Isaac Pina and Sheila Almeida, and the step-daughter of John Almeida and Anne Pina.

Born in New Bedford, she graduated from New Bedford High School and lived in the city most of her life. Her passion was working with adults with disabilities.

Melissa was known best for her contagious laugh and her sense of humor. Her favorite sports were basketball and football, and she especially enjoyed watching her youngest son, Caden, play at his games.

She is survived by her 3 sons, Deryk Soto, Bryce Silva and Caden Pina; her daughter, Jenelle Soto; her 2 brothers, Corey Pina and Jeffrey Pina, her sister, Sheri Pina; her 5 grandchildren, Samari, Sage, Brayden, Braydel and Julianna; her nieces and nephews, Jayde Costa, Brevyn Viera, and Devin, Donovan, Nolan, Jalyssa, Jordyn, Amelia, and Liam Pina; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visiting hours are Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, with a service at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
