Murray Gonzalez Obituary

New Bedford – Murray A. Gonzalez, 68, of New Bedford, died Thursday, October 8, 2020 at home.  He was the loving husband of Catherine (Morello) Gonzalez.  They were married 44 years.
     Born in Bronx, NY, son of the late German Gonzalez and Maria (Rios) Rivera, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.  He was employed as a correctional officer at Walpole State Prison for 27 years.
     Murray was president of the New Bedford Revolver and Rifle Club for the past 17 years and member of Moose Lodge 914.  He enjoyed watching football, especially the Patriots and the Mets and science fiction movies.  Most of all, he loved his family.
     He is survived by his wife, Catherine; a son, Anthony Gonzalez and wife, Kathy; 2 daughters, Domenica Gonzalez and Tara Dwelly and husband, Ben; 1 grandson, Patrick Dwelly; 4 sisters, Rosie Rivera, Gloria Rios and husband, Eddie, Ana Gonzalez and Judy Talavera; and his step-mother, Anne Gonzalez.
     He was the brother of the late Luis Rivera, Jr. and step-son of the late Luis Rivera.
     Visitation is 4 to 7 P.M., Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.  His funeral Mass is at 11 A.M. Wednesday in St. Lawrence Church, New Bedford.
