Richard Malita Obituary

New Bedford – Richard W. Malita, 76, died Sunday, December 22, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital.  Born in Acushnet, a son of the late Boleslaw and Irene (Kowalski) Malita, he lived on Cape Cod most of his life and for the past 10 years he resided in New Bedford.  He was employed as a chef at the Riverway Lobster House of Yarmouthport.  Upon retirement Richard was a volunteer at Fort Tabor Military Museum.  He was an avid gardener and loved cooking.  Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard.  He is survived by his brother, Jon Malita and wife Gale of Estero, Florida; his Godson, Brian Humenuk of Raynham and his cousins, Elin and Nolan Humenuk.
     Visitation will be 10 to 11 A.M., Monday, January 13, 2020 with a service at 11 A.M. at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.  Burial with Military Honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.  For condolences, visit www.machnowskifuneral.com.
