Roger Boyer Obituary

New Bedford - Roger E. Boyer, 86, died Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at home.  He was the husband of the late Patricia M. (Viger) Boyer.
     Born in New Bedford, son of the late Laurent P. and Alice P. (Desorcy) Boyer, he lived here all his life.  He was employed as a maintenance man at MCI Norfolk State Prison until his retirement.
     Mr. Boyer was a recipient of the Marian Medal and a member of the Knights of Columbus.  A communicant of St. Joseph-St. Therese Church, he served as  a Eucharistic Minister and was very involved in maintaining his church.  For many years he was a Cub Scout leader.  He loved bingo, animals and especially spending time with his family.
     He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, having retained the rank of Airman, 3rd. Class.
     Survivors include 1 daughter, Jacqueline J. Boyer and her fiance, Philip Morris of New Bedford; 1 son, Michael R. Boyer of Lakeville and his companion, Donna Paci of Quincy; 2 sisters, Flora Duff of New Bedford and Shirley Babcock of Ohio; and 1 brother, Camille Boyer of CT.  
     He was the brother of the late Helen Dunn, Pearl Fernandes, Paul Boyer, Edgar Boyer and Raymond Boyer.
     Visiting hours are 4 - 7 P. M., Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.  His funeral Mass is at 10:30 A.M. Monday, in St. Joseph-St. Therese Church, followed by burial with honors in MA National Cemetery, Bourne.
