Roger O. Desroches, 94, died Monday, September 26, 2023 at Hathaway Manor in New Bedford after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Arthur and Anna (Daigneault) Desroches, Roger lived in the city all of his life. He was a Private 1st Class in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He also received the Army Occupation Medal.
Roger was also a life member of the VFW Poirier Post, and he enjoyed telling jokes.
Roger is survived by his brother, Donald Desroches; several nieces and nephews; and his friend, Diana Landry.
He was the brother of the late Lucille Barwick, Gerard Desroches, Leo Desroches, Willie Desroches, Howard Desroches, Jeanne Guillotte, Alice Coupe, Beatrice Hayes, and Doris Mills.
Visiting hours are Friday, September 29, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, with a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. from the funeral home. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Bedford.
