Rosalie Lada

Rosalie Lada, 103, of New Bedford, died Saturday, May 27th, 2023, at Sacred Heart Nursing Home after a brief illness. 

Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Peter and Antonia (Benbenek) Lada, she was a lifelong city resident. She worked in the Works Progress Administration (WPA) office of New Bedford as a Polish translator during World War II. She later was an office clerk for 17 years at Aerovox Corporation before becoming office clerk for United Electrical Local 277 Union at Morse Twist Drill for 33 years. She was a lifelong member and a Eucharistic Minister at St. Casimir’s Church prior to its closing and has been a lifetime member of the Polish Women’s Business and Professional Club. She also worked at New Bedford polls for over 40 years.

Rosalie is survived by her beloved nieces, nephews, and their families.

She was the sister of the late Josephine Linkiewicz, Annie Wicherski, Charlotte Abramczyk, Edna Wolf, Irene Lavallee, Pearl Aluza, and Peter J. Lada.

Her visiting hours will be held Monday, June 5, 2023 from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the Sacred Heart Home Chapel, 359 Summer Street, New Bedford. A funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be private.

Because her favorite color was purple, the family has asked that everyone in attendance please wear something purple in honor of Rosalie.

The family also wishes to thank the staff at Sacred Heart Home for their dedicated care throughout the years, ARAW (Association for the Relief of Aged Woman) and Beacon Hospice Care.
