Sheila Mae Almeida

Shiela Mae Almeida, 78, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, June 21, 2026. She was the beloved wife of John J. Almeida.

Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late John and Florence (Correira) Barba, she lived in the city her entire life.

In her free time, Sheila enjoyed shopping on QVC and Amazon. She also enjoyed connecting with friends and family on social media, travelling, and going to the beach. She was very fond of her cat, “Rilee” and her dog, “Zero,” and loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sheila is survived by her husband, John; her daughter, Sheri Lee Pina; her six grandchildren, Deryk, Jenelle, Jayde, Bryce, Brevyn, and Caden; and her eight great-grandchildren, Samyra, Samari, Avianna, Anyla, Sage, Brayden, Braydel, and Julianna.

She was the mother of the late Melissa Lee Pina and the sister of the late John Barba.

Her memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, with a service at 7:30 p.m. from the funeral home.
