Stanley Twarog Obituary

New Bedford - Stanley Twarog, 82, died Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Bedford Gardens Care and Rehab Center after a long illness.
     Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Walter, Sr. and Mary (Pawlik) Twarog, he lived in South Dartmouth for over 40 years.
     A recipient of the Marian Medal, Stanley was a communicant and lector at the former St. Hedwig Church.
     He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
     Mr. Twarog was employed as an actuarial examiner at the Division of Insurance with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts until his retirement.
     Stanley loved listening to jazz, and was a big fan of the jazz legends, Bix Beiderbeck and Bobby Hackett.  He was an avid reader, especially of books and topics concerning religion and politics.  He enjoyed watching baseball, football, hockey and golf.
     He is survived by his caretaker and brother, Steven Twarog and wife, Suzanne of South Dartmouth; 2 sisters, Jeanne Bouthillette of Florida and Janice Machnowski and her husband, Richard of Mattapoisett; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
     He was the brother of the late Walter Twarog, Jr. and John Twarog; and uncle of the late Donna Twarog, Gregory Twarog, David Bouthillette and Glenn Bouthillette.
     Visitation is 9 - 10:30 A.M., Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, followed by his funeral Mass at 11 A.M. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 235 North Front St., New Bedford.  Burial with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
