Stefanie Pilat Obituary
New Bedford – Stefanie (Nowakowski) Pilat, 94, died Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the wife of the late Peter W. Pilat.
Born in Mattapoisett, daughter of the late Michael and Maryanna (Olszewska) Nowakowski, she lived in Acushnet most of her life. She was employed as a cafeteria manager at the Acushnet Elementary School until her retirement. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
Stefanie was a Teamster union representative in 1967. She was a member of the Friends of Poland and the West Island Improvement Association. She was a choir member as well as a kitchen helper for her church.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Paula Mui, Ann Plaud and Susan Pilat; and 2 sons, Mark Pilat and Paul Pilat; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Stefanie was the mother of the late Peter Pilat.
Her funeral Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery are private.
